Lake Toba is accessible by air through Silangit Airport near Balige.
However, if you are coming from Medan by land, most probably
you will pass by Parapat, a small cramped lakeside town serving
as a primary transit point by ferry for visitors going to Samosir
Island.
You can find local souvenirs such as ulos, which are locally
woven clothes, traditional detailed carvings, musical instruments,
T-shirts and key chains.
Parapat - a small town in the Uluan Peninsula where the first
Indonesia President Soekarno was sent into exile.
